no idea how to post a pic, lol…so here’s the link.
i used a dpst switch on mine, and a spst. that way one switch goes up, one goes down.
it you use spst swtitches, you step on one for up, and both for down. if you wire up one side of the dpst switch in parallel with the spst, and the other side of the dpst as shown, one switch goes up, one switch goes down.
inside the whammy, with the heel of the treadle facing you and the bottom off, the preset switch has three connections. just solder as shown in the diagram. use a plastic jack to isolate it from ground. it’s pretty easy.
that said, i don’t reccomend the true bypass mod myself, alot of effort for litlle (imho) return, and a very real chance of making it a huge radio antennae. 😉
if ya still got questions, or this doesn’t answer what ya needed, write back, i’m subscribed to the thread now. peace.
I’ve got dpdt switches (well, and a spst from the originaly whammy switch), so would just wiring to the centre post and the pole that closes when the switch is depressed would do the same job as a spst? Oh, and I’ve also got momentary switches, is that correct?
a spst switch will work, but if you want to be able to have up/down control, you need a spdt and a dpdt momentary nc. pretty much ya just wire up both switches the same, and have the dpdt or dpst’s other side wired backwards.
the first one i built (as shown in the diagram) just used a pair of spst momentarys i got at radio shack..one red, and one black one. to go up, you step on red, to go down, you step on both.
but i swapped it out for the spdt and the dpdt, just “normal” kinda stompbox momentary switches.
it’s easier than it sounds…wire it up and you’ll figure it out right quick, i think. 😉
if i get a chance later, i’ll try and pop open the switch box so you can see what i did. i didn’t use a third switch to change directions like Ilyich did.
Hi,
Could you post the wiring diagram and show which pole of the jack goes to which post on the board of the whammy please?
Thanks
Give me a couple of days to check. I’m not entirely sure I remember correctly but I’ll check the pictures as I don’t own the pedal anymore.
Cheers,
Ilyich.
if it’s cool with Ilyich,
i’ll post a diagram for you of how to wire the switches and where to make the connections.
if you use the right switches, it works great…and you only need two.
Sure man, go ahead! I’ll do it anyways sometime in the future but right now I’m a bit busy with other stuff so it could take me a while.
ok brothers, this is the basic idea here…i’ll crack the whammy and take some pics of the actual unit one of these days.

ummm…one more try to make the image show up…
Thanks for the info Jimi.
